Wrestling Shoes Wrestling shos are not required, but strongly recommended.  Tennis shoes must be clean, smooth bottomed, and have nothing on them to poke or scratch other wrestlers. Head Gear Head gear is not required for beginner level wrestlers.  It is, however, recommended for older, more experienced wrestlers and may be required at tournaments.
